A few months ago, I was feeling bogged down by the reality of my sin and so I went to the Bible to seek truth and mercy. As a result I was reminded of these truths:
- We have been ravished by His love (Song of Solomon)
- Jesus is all we need (2 Peter 1:3)
- He says in His word "I will be their God" (Ezekiel 36:28)
- The present suffering does not compare to future glory (Romans 8:18)
So, I felt inspired to turn these truths into lyrics for a song.
**Note: I worked on the flow and the number of syllables, but it's still not perfect. It's a slight improvement in rhythm from my last song though.
All I Need
What sweeter words can be said
than, “I will be their God”?
Nothing more that I have read
has pierced my aching heart.
No suffering, nor deep despair,
compares to what’s to come.
The future glory that awaits,
The hope for everyone.
All I need is Jesus
Come and cling to Jesus
Find yourself in Jesus
So I will say to all my shame:
you hold no power here
For Jesus has delivered me
and I will no longer fear.
You are all that I will need
No penance can atone
(For) the only way that I am free
is to trust in Christ alone
All I need is Jesus
Come and cling to Jesus
Find yourself in Jesus
Who am I to deserve your love?
Who am I to declare you Lord?
Who am I to sing your praise?
Who am I?
Who am I to deserve your love?
Who am I to declare you Lord?
Who am I to sing your praise?
Who am I?
Yet, you are the great I am!
You called on us before we heard it
No one on earth could ever deserve it
The greatest one became a servant.
All I need is Jesus
Come and cling to Jesus
Find yourself in Jesus
